DIY Man Cave Ideas That’ll Turn Your Space into Man-Central

diy man cave ideas

There are a few things every man cave needs. You could even call it the formula to create a man cave.

You need somewhere to drink, somewhere to play, and somewhere to watch. What you drink, what you play, and what you watch is up to you.

This man cave formula works for baseball fans who love poker, pool players that watch basketball, any combination.

Sometimes you can’t find what you want in a store. Plus, isn’t it more manly to create your man cave yourself?

We think so. That’s why we compiled these DIY man cave ideas. Read on, bro.

#1 Jersey Wall

If you’re a sports fan, we’re willing to bet there’s a bunch of jerseys in your micro-corner of the closet.

Do you ever wear them? How often? Creating a jersey wall is a great way to make sure they get seen and she gets more closet space.

If you want to keep wearing them, you can hang the jersey’s on hangers on hooks. Or staple them to the wall.

The number of jerseys and wall space determine how many you should use. If you have tons of jerseys, you can cover a whole wall.

If you only have a few, hang them in a diagonal line with the last jersey just brushing the floor.

Want a full wall? You can find jerseys for cheap at any thrift store. Start looking and collecting before you start this project.

Thrifty stores get new stuff every day, so you’ll get more if you look every week or so.

You can also get your jerseys framed in a piece of glass, but this picture was our initial inspiration.

#2 Pallet Bar

Reclaimed wood is huge right now and in most cases, you can find it for free. Don’t roll up to a store and grab their pallets, though.

Check your local craigslist for free pallets or ask a store manager. You don’t need more than three pallets to create this pallet bar.

It looks rough, it’s cheap, and it’s a conversation piece for your room. If you have kids, let them help you build it.

You’ll build the structure of the bar from new plywood, then cover it in the reclaimed wood. Sand it down to the appropriate level if you have kids, or so you don’t scratch your legs.

Seal the top with food-safe epoxy and build in some shelves. You’re good to go.

#3 Beer Bottle Cups

There’s nothing more manly than beer, so why not drink your beer from other beer? We’ll explain.

As you get different bottled beers, save a few of each bottle type. The best kind are the ones with the label printed on the bottle, not attached.

Save them up for a while until you have as many as you need. Get a glass cutter or an attachment for your saw.

Measure out where you want the beer glass to be and cut the bottle down to size. Make sure you leave enough of the original label to get the look you’re going for.

Then, sand sand sand! If you got the right kind of glass cutter, you should have a straight line. However, there are little particles of glass you need to rough away.

Start with something like 120 grit and go to about 180 or 200. Make sure it’s nice and smooth. Pop your bottles in a sink full of lukewarm soapy water after.

Once they’re done soaking, rinse each one well to get rid of any tiny glass particles.

Leave them to dry and then enjoy your new, beer-themed beer glasses!

#4 Wrench Hooks

Go to Walmart and get some cheap wrenches. The cheaper, the better, since you’ll need to bend them.

You don’t need the kind that open and close, the simple shape will do. Take them to your tool bench and get it tight in a vice grip.

Take your heat gun and heat up where you want the wrench to bend. A few inches down from the middle will do.

Then, take a hammer or heat-safe gloves and bend the wrench enough to hang things on.

Let it cool before taking it out of the vice and grab a few screws.

Using the pre-cut holes in the wrench, drill them into your wall. Mount the wrench hooks and you’re good to go!

Tip: to make sure there’s a straight part to adhere to the wall, make sure a good amount is in the vice grip.

Use Team Colors as Accents

If you think back to shows like TLC’s Trading Spaces, there were a lot of sport-themed rooms.

You don’t need to line your man cave with astroturf to make it look manly.

Use dark, elegant colors on the walls and for the furniture. Then, bring your team colors in with small touches. The jersey wall is a great example.

Throw pillows, cups, a couch blanket draped over a chair are all other subtle ways to show your support.

You want to create a space for men, not a locker room for boys.

DIY Man Cave Ideas

Before you go, think about how easy whatever you make will be to take down/repaint. If you sell your house, do the next owners want a football leather texture wall?

Probably not. Keep your diy man cave ideas hangable or removable (even with tools). Your man cave may be a cool selling point for some families, but not all.
